Michael Moore

Should have put all of these posts up earlier but here they are anyway. Michael Moore came and visited. He never looks different, always in a hat and the same clothes. I found it funny that he was wearing a Wayne State hat that had a huge W on the front of it. He is a very vocal and loud person, gets his point across very strongly. It was the first political things I have gone too and found it to be quite fun. There were a lot of people that came to see him as well, a lot more than I would have expected to come, I think that makes the experience a lot more memorable though. It was an experience in itself and I wont forget it.

Well after receiving my paper back, I know now what I really need to focus on. Some of the stuff I could see coming the other just gets my brain going again. I missed some small things and a few big ideas. I just need to really be descriptive, I need to take the minor things and really really look at their reasoning and purpose for being in the picture. They don't just put things in they always have a reason for doing it and I need to find that out by going way into depth. Well I guess I just need to start and will all come in time. Id like to say as well last weekend of baseball this weekend, eveyrone should go.

Well I took everything that I engulfed during the peer editing and put it into good use. I was able to lengthen my paper and make a pretty good introduction. I think its a pretty good rough draft for this paper, I found a few more arguments when I made my description more in depth. I found out about the floor in the office, as well as the picture hanging on the wall in the background. These were two things I had not really paid any attention too. I was also able too fix up my grammatical errors and finish up with a conclusion, which I still think needs some major work but I'll concentrate on it more for the final draft. Rough Draft done, Fianl Draft next, bring it on.

Looking into the ad

You really have to find an ad with a lot of substance to be able to really be able to do a good Analysis. Most ads can be somewhat plan but have a lot of meaning but take a hard time to write about them. The description you write helps when you start to connect things, you realize that if an ad isn't very descriptive. I choose a few ads but took the one with the most going on in it because I thought that I could write the most about that one. With an ad that has a lot going on the paper will be less difficult and stressful. Description is key.

Peer Editing Workshop

After having my paper checked over I found out where I really needed to add more substance. I needed to really spend my time on reconstructing my introduction. It was lacking a few things but for the most part was pretty good for an introduction at this time. I also found out that I could really be a lot more descriptive about all of the things that are going on in my ad. I am a little to general and need to go in more depth. I had a few small grammar errors but most of my focus was going to be on the description and the analysis part of the paper. The length was just three pages so that was going to have to be lengthened as well. I think that my peer group worked well together and we did a pretty good job on helping each other out with our papers.

Reading about Starbucks in Starbucks

I was thinking the other day that I would post on this...While reading the first chapters in our book I actually read the part about Starbucks in Starbucks. I have always been the person that said I would never go there because it was something that seemed to me like everyone was doing. Starbucks has its regulars and I was never going to be one of them, well things change. But my point is that while reading that section I looked around the room at everything it talked about is true. The image is aimed towards a certain group and that's just how it is. They use things like the color of their walls to the lingo used to lure in people. I became one of those people but I can tell you that by using these things they know what there doing.

ADs in the World

Realizing that Ads are everywhere you begin to see more and more. While looking through magazines I not only will read articles but I will start to read into the advertisements too. In some magazines their is and advertisement on every other page. They are almost a story within themselves. After learning so much about how they advertise things that have nothing to do with their product to get you to buy their product is interesting.

Introduction Repetition

It seems like at every level of education, u always talk about the right way to write an essay. It begins with learning about the "hamburger" method and now its MLA format. Even though things have changed, I think that something has not. Every teacher has always stressed the importance of the introduction of an essay. You have to create this awesome paragraph to start each paper off. They all give you basically the same information but it seems like it gets more complicated at each level. Now we have reached a point where we need to master the introduction because it is the reason your paper will flow or not. The introduction is the key to any essay or paper and we have known this for a long time, and we will be reminded as we continue our education.
